We will meet at approximately 5:45pm on the first evening for an introductory talk and discussion before dinner, on each participants needs and aims – an essential aspect of ensuring that every participant gets as much as possible from the course. You will also at this stage be briefed on the programme for the next 3 days.
Our photography commences the next morning and runs through until 4:00pm on the final day. We will visit a number of diverse locations, all of which will offer you numerous challenges and provide you with ample opportunity to practice a number of techniques. There will also be the opportunity for a dawn (weather and conditions permitting) and dusk shoots.
You will have the chance to review your images in the image critique sessions, when you’ll be able to discuss them with your tutor and fellow photographers, and receive constructive feedback as we look back on your photography.
The workshop has a relaxed format and is designed to be enjoyable as well as well as educational, so aside of improving your photography you can also enjoy the beautiful surroundings and most importantly have fun! There will also be time to relax and chat over dinner in the evenings.

Over the course of the workshop we will help you to get the most from your camera, and work with you on composition and camera technique to enable you to capture the best images possible ‘in-camera’. We will give you both practical and technical advice, as well as individual guidance and hands on demonstrations in the field, at locations chosen to both challenge and inspire you. We will also look at the creative side of photography and developing your vision.
We recommend that you have a reasonably good level of fitness to join this workshop. Some of the ground will be uneven, particularly on the beach, and there will be a degree of downhill walking to access some of the locations which of course means it’s uphill back! The pebbles and rocks are also liable to be slippery at times.
Walking boots, ideally waterproof, with a good tread are essential as we will be working with our cameras around the water’s edge. Waterproof clothing may be needed if the weather is looking unpredictable, and it’s a good idea to bring something warm as it can be breezy on the coast and cold first thing in the morning and in the evening.
SLR camera with ideally both wide angle and telephoto lenses; tripod; cable release, Whilst not essential, you will benefit from bringing neutral density graduated filters; a polariser, a neutral density filter. It is also recommended that you also bring a rain cover for your camera. A laptop and card reader is useful to select and review your images for the purpose of our image critiques but not essential. Before buying any equipment or if you are unsure of what to bring, please email info@imageseen.co.uk for more information.
