Capture Iconic Aysgarth Falls

Situated just outside the small village of Aysgarth, within Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Aysgarth falls is famous for being featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Consisting of a series of wide, stepped cascades, surrounded by trees, these tiered falls; High Force, Middle Force and Lower Force, all have very different characteristics and offer different perspectives. In particular the lower falls with their interesting rock formations and swirling water.

Photograph Delightful West Burton (Cauldron) Falls

Located in the quaint village of West Burton, West Burton Falls is also known as Cauldron Falls because of its deep plunge pool. Painted by J.M.W Turner in 1816 on his travels, its picturesque, tranquil woodland setting makes it one of the most beautiful falls in the Dales.

Easily accessible, it offers potential for a variety of great compositions.

Beautiful East Gill Force

We will finish our workshop with East Gill Force located near the village of Keld in Swaledale. With its surrounding mossy rocks, it features distinct upper and lower falls. The upper falls consist of a graceful flow of water that drops into a lovely pool, whilst the lower section cascades into the River Swale. Plenty of rocks also provide foreground interest here. If time allows we’ll also visit nearby Wain Wath Force.

Full instruction will be given on the use of filters on this workshop such as the ND filter to allow for extended exposure times and the polarising filter to remove reflection and saturate colours.

Yorkshire Dales Waterfalls – May 2026

Sarah was an awesome host and instructor on our 1 day Vale of Neath workshop. Great locations, great attitude and support. Really knowledgeable and freely gave her advice and input. Sarah was her usual outstanding self and it was really good to be back on another workshop with her! Highly recommend her workshops!

I found the day a great experience where Sarah and Tim provided enough time with each individual person and understood what they were trying to achieve with their compositions. They also encouraged all of us to experiment with settings on the camera and provided us with tips on composition. I certainly will use the experience gained in my future photography. I will be attending more Image Seen workshops in the future.

I've been on a number of Sarah's workshops. They are always excellent and last week's to photograph the waterfalls on the Elidir Trail near Neath in South Wales was no exception. We were lucky that overnight rain meant that there was lots of water over the falls. Sarah gave her usual helpful advice on camera settings and filters and was happy to review my results. I came way with some images that I'm very pleased with. I thoroughly recommend Sarah's workshops to everyone whether you are an experienced photographer or just beginning on your photographic journey.
Nick Baldwin
Very enjoyable and instructive workshop in the Neath Valley shooting waterfalls. Plenty of help and tuition, yet plenty of time to experiment. Relaxed and friendly, and not too technical. Would thoroughly recommend.
