You will meet Phil at approximately 5:30pm on the evening of the 16th March for introductions and an overview of the workshop before dinner.
Photography will commence with a sunrise shoot the next morning before breakfast. The exact itinerary each day is weather dependent but typically you will be out for the majority of the day for the four days.
Check out of the hotel after breakfast on March 21st.
You will visit a number of locations over the course of the workshop which will offer numerous challenges and allow you to fully explore your creative potential.
There will also be time to review and critique your images and the opportunity to discuss them together as together as a group you look back on your photography.
The workshop has a relaxed format and is designed to be enjoyable as well as well as educational, so aside of improving your photography you can also enjoy the beautiful surroundings and most importantly have fun!
Our base is the Harris Hotel, in Tarbert, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. 5 nights B&B single occupancy ensuite accommodation is included in the workshop.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their photography so photographers of all levels of experience are welcome. It is not suitable for the complete beginner.
We will give you both practical and technical advice, as well as individual guidance and hands on demonstrations in the field.
Aside of helping you choose the best camera settings, we will also look at composition, developing your vision and the use of various filters.
Phil will be on hand to provide as much support, advice or guidance as you want.
Travel to Harris and Lewis is not included. The CalMac car and passenger ferry from Uig, Skye to Tarbert, Harris takes only 90 minutes.
A minimum of 4 photographers is required for this workshop to proceed.

Phil will be using his own vehicle to transport clients between locations. A volunteer driver will also be required each day and fuel refunded at the rate of 30p per mile.
Transport to Harris is not included.

Flying: You can also fly to Stornoway (Lewis) from Edinburgh, Inverness or Glasgow.
Moderate/Good – some uneven ground on some of the walks and slippery rocks on the beaches

- DSLR or mirrorless camera ideally with both wide angle and telephoto lenses
- Tripod
- Cable/remote release
- Whilst not essential, you will benefit from bringing neutral density graduated filters; a polariser and a neutral density filter.
- A rain cover for your camera.
- A laptop and card reader is very useful to select and review your images for the purpose of our image critiques but not essential.
